Buoys / Fixed Sites

Sea-Bird manufactures a large number of instruments intended for moorings, buoys, and other fixed sites. A moored instrument measures water parameters in one location, over an extended period of time, providing a time series of data. To reduce costs, a moored CTD may not include a pressure sensor, because the deployment depth is known (approximately); the pressure sensor is optional in Sea-Bird moored CTDs. Sea-Bird also manufactures moored temperature sensors as well as instruments for high-accuracy pressure measurements (wave and tide recorder, bottom pressure recorder, and tsunami sensor).

The Environmental Characterization Optics (ECO) series of sensors incorporate a common set of options with a single basic design to make them ideal for a wide variety of deployments.

 SeapHOx™ Ocean CT(D)-pH-DO Sensor
The SeapHOx™ combines the SeaFET™ pH sensor with the SBE 37-SMP-ODO MicroCAT CTD+DO sensor.
The Deep SeapHOx™ combines the Deep SeaFET™ pH sensor with the SBE 37-SMP-ODO MicroCAT CTD+DO sensor. The Deep SeaFET adapts the MBARI/SIO/Honeywell Deep-Sea DuraFET technology to measure pH in a deep moored package.
SBE 19plus V2 with optional cage, SBE 5P pump, & SBE 43 DO sensor
Profiling or moored Conductivity, Temperature, Pressure, and up to seven auxiliary sensors, with 4 Hz sampling, and internal memory and batteries.
The SAS Solar Tracker works in conjunction with the Surface Acquisition System (SAS) (measures above-water ocean colour) to maintain the correct pointing angle with respect to the sun, and thus permits autonomous operation.

Integrates RS-232 instruments to Inductive Modem (IM) telemetry system. Internal battery pack provides power to SBE 44 and can also power the RS-232 instrument.
SBE 26plus Seagauge Wave & Tide Recorder
Wave and Tide, Temperature, and optional Conductivity data, with internal memory and batteries and real-time tide and wave data. Photo shows 26plus being secured in accessory mounting fixture. After installation at mooring, fixture allows removal & precise repositioning by diver (no tools required; no loose parts to misplace).
SBE 53 Bottom Pressure Recorder
Full ocean depth water level, with extremely high resolution, accuracy, and stability. Precision thermometer, optional conductivity sensor.
SBE 54 Tsunami Pressure Sensor
Measures, records, and outputs pressure at user-programmable periods, at full ocean depth (photo shows short externally powered version as well as long version with internal batteries).
